Your Final Resting Place

Those who you leave behind will feel better if there is somewhere that they can associate with your final resting place. You may already have a family plot or you might already have somewhere in mind for your final resting place.

Make sure that your wishes are included in your Book of Wishes.

Burial

If you have specified burial, then the locations are limited, but if you are to be cremated, then your ashes can be distributed in many locations including:

Church Grounds (Casket or Urn) – Unless you already have a family plot, you should contact your preferred Church soon to check if a plot is available as space is already at a premium.

Woodland Burial – There area number of woodland burial plot around the UK and they are becoming increasingly popular. A simple search will identify a local ite and you can contact them about your requirements.

Cremation

If you have specified cremation,then there are more options with regard to your final resting place:

Lawn of remembrance – Most UK Crematoria have lawns of remembrance where your ashes can be scattered at a simple ceremony. A member of staff will have to witness the location of scattering so that records may be maintained.

Woodland Scattering – There are many woodland burial sites around the UK that accomodate the scattering of your ashes. A simple search will identify a local site and you can contact them about your requirements.

On Land – You can have your ashes scattered on land but you will have to ask the permission of the land owners. For example, some of the main sports stadiums have specific memorial areas to keep the pitches from being affected by the number of ashes scattered there.

At Sea – You will need permission before spreading cremated remains on to a privately-owned stretch of waters but you don’t need a license to spread ashes in tidal coastal waters or upon a beach. You must comply with a few guidelines from the Environmental Agency if it’s within 5 miles of the coast, but these are mainly matters of courtesy.

In Space – It is also possible to have your remains carried into space and released over the face of the earth. Please contact us if this is your wish and we will arrange for a specialist to advise you.
