Dual Religion

Many couples are naturally comprised of individuals from quite different ethnic upbringings and thus potentially diverse religious backgrounds. Although they themselves, may not have strong religious views, members of their families may well have and although religious acceptance and tolerance might be demonstrated on a day to day basis, there are times when religious preferences are more strongly voiced and family members can be seriously upset if the practices that they are used to and ‘comfortable’ with, are not observed or included. Weddings and funerals are just such times when emotions run high and views, normally subdued, are more openly voiced.

It IS however, very possible to put together a service whereby two diverse religious doctrines are acknowledged and both sets of views are observed. This is achieved by looking for commonality between the observed religious ‘rituals’ and writings and there are surprisingly many ways of achieving this.

It’s down to you to make clear your preference for any religious influences to be included. Then the Celebrant leading your service will create a script for you, if necessary working alongside a priest or minister from a specific religion.
